Q.1. When can an intrauterine device (IUD) be inserted (interval)?

Rationales
a) The IUD may be inserted at anytime during the menstrual cycle, at the user's convenience, when you can be reasonably sure the woman is not pregnant.

(See Q.2. for postpartum insertion and Q.3. for post-abortion insertion).

The IUD is effective immediately.

 a) The IUD prevents pregnancy if inserted before implantation.
