New Infection Prevention Tutorial
Added to Series: "Care of Women with HIV Living in Limited-Resource
Settings"

JHPIEGO has recently finished its series of 12 multimedia tutorials for physicians, faculty, and healthcare trainers working with women with HIV/AIDS with the addition of a tutorial on Infection Prevention for Healthcare Providers. The series of tutorials, entitled Care of Women With HIV Living in Limited-Resource Settings, is available on the ReproLine website (tutorials) and on CD-ROM. The series of tutorials was developed with support from JHPIEGO's Training in Reproductive Health Project and Maternal and Neonatal Health Program along with the US Department of Health and Human Services Health Resources and Services Administration.
The newest tutorial addresses topics such as: risk of acquiring HIV and other diseases after a needle stick injury; standard precautions for reproductive healthcare and other facilities; and methods for disposal of clinical waste.
With audio narration, presentation graphics, full-text references (such as scientific articles and manuals), job aids, links to related resources on the web, text transcripts, and a self-grading quiz, the tutorials equip healthcare providers with the necessary technical knowledge to provide high-quality services and to train other providers to meet the reproductive health needs of women with HIV/AIDS. The tutorials offer an engaging, visual learning environment for quick knowledge updates without extensive reading.

Four primary references were used to create the tutorials and are included in their entirety with the tutorials:
- A Guide to the Clinical Care of Women with HIV (Department of Health and Human Services/Health Resources and Services Administration);
- HIV/AIDS and Nutrition: A Review of the Literature and Recommendations for Nutritional Care and Support in Sub-Saharan Africa (AED);
- Scaling Up Antiretroviral Therapy in Resource Limited Settings: Guidelines for a Public Health Approach (World Health Organization);
- Infection Prevention Guidelines for Healthcare Facilities with Limited Resources (JHPIEGO).
