Developed by the Johns Hopkins Population Information Program with support from USAID and WHO, "The Essentials of Contraceptive Technology" is a handbook for clinic staff that uses a simple, client-centered approach to the provision of family planning care. The handbook covers a wide range of topics that will help to enable women and men to use the method of their choice effectively. The handbook comes with a clinic poster "Do you know your family planning choices?"
Dr. Robert A. Hatcher of Emory University School of Medicine, Ward Rinehart, Richard Blackburn, and Judith Geller of the Johns Hopkins Population Information Program, and Dr. James D. Shelton of the U.S. Agency for International Development wrote the handbook and it was extensively reviewed by family planning experts around the world.
