The Secretariat of the Technical Guidance Working Group wishes to thank the Division of Family Health and the Special Programme of Research, Development and Research Training in Human Reproduction of the World Health Organization (WHO) for their review of this document; all of the recommendations made by WHO which are within the scope of this document have been made. The recommendations in this document are also consistent with the WHO's August 1994 draft of Medical Eligibility Criteria 1 , which is the preliminary result of a WHO-led effort to update family planning medical eligibility criteria to reflect current clinical and epidemiologic knowledge.
