Levonorgestrel-Releasing IUDs

Q.5 What is the duration of use for LNg IUDs?

Recommendations

Rationale

Currently, the LNg-20 IUD is technically approved for five years of use; however, evidence indicates that it actually will last for seven years.

It has been approved for five years of use in Europe. However, it has been shown to have low pregnancy rates through seven years. Studies are on-going.
