Spermicides Presentation Graphics Notes

Slide 19

Because spermicides are often available outside of the healthcare system, providers may not include them among the choice of available methods. In some cases, providers may discuss spermicide use in combination with condoms or diaphragms but may neglect to mention that they can be used on their own.

In addition, information about spermicides may not be discussed openly because adequate training has not been provided. All family planning providers should know how spermicides work, what types are available and be able to describe how they are used.
